That is where we differ in opinion. Personally, from a role-playing PoV, I would have no problem with the idea that Joe Monsterkiller worked his way up through the ranks of society, well, killing monsters. In the end, Joe Monsterkiller has not only his experience and the grand heroic memories and trophies, but also a great amount of loot he can now trade it for some real shiny armor and weapons to further his quests.

However, Jon the Gladiator is doing his part, fighting for his guild and winning tournaments. His guild supplies him only what he needs to fight, nothing more, he lives a sheltered life. Wait a minute, he's winning in tournaments, right? Surely, they should get something for that. I mean, Jon the Gladiator earned it, right? Some say he worked harder for it than even Joe Monsterkiller. Why should Joe get all the glory? Can one truly say that Joe is working harder than Jon?

In the old ATS Rewards thread, I was against the unlockable skins idea. After actually thinking about it, I really don't mind. I actually think it's pretty cool and that it would've been cooler if they were unique PvP exclusive skins.

The fact that the skins are a one-time-use is a different matter, though. That they can't change the stats on them sucks, too - something even PvErs can do now. People say "Hey, if you want the skins the don't delete the guy". If they wanted the skins, they'd make a PvE character.

I'm mostly a PvE player, and I don't see anything wrong with being able to unlock vanity skins in PvP. It doesn't hurt us PvE players if the PvP players get something nice. If a player gets their fancy sword through playing GvG, why should I care? They earned it, same as I did, just through a different method. I don't see any reason to deny some of my fellow players the option of making their characters cooler looking. Besides, the pvp players can't even come over into the pve areas. If they get fancy stuff, it doesn't effect us at all. Plus, if a pve player decides to pvp at some point, having a nice vanity unlock system would benefit them as well. Lets not split the community so much, adding up the pluses and minuses of pve and pvp updates. A positive addition to either side is good for players and is good for guild wars.

Joe gets all the glory? Um...PvErs get zero recognition. PvPers constantly sneer and look down at PvErs, carebears who only care about cake. The only ones who get any recognition are the good farmers. Even those who worked hard to get FoW get called e-bayers, or "FoW is ugly anyway".

I do agree that PvPers should get rewarded for their effort. But they should be rewarded with something relevant to PvP and not taking something exclusive from PvE.

Give PvPers PvP-ONLY unlockable armors (Once unlocked can be craftable in PvE somewhere far and difficult). Give PvErs some incentive to wanna play a PvP character.

If PvPer wants 15k armor available only in PvE, let him/her PvE. Incentive to play PvE.

The reward system is rewarding PvPers PvE content without PvEing.

How is that fair without letting PvErs get PvP content without PvPing?

Someone answer me?

I want to gain Balthazar Faction from killing monsters. I want fame from killing monsters.

Thats only fair. Follow the logic. One side of the equation must equal the other. Do you see how ridiculous it is once you flip the equation to favor PvE?

So an answer to that would be exclusive pve arenas unique to pvp?
Anyways I was just about to give up but seeing some people with points of view close to mine, Ill give it another shot at giving points out.
First off what im suggesting could be a change from a standard weapon skin 10 pts to 100 or 200 for unlock value keeping the 1 time only for the ones who do not delete characters,as has been pointed out average earning of reward points is 100 a month so in the case of a standard white found near say shing jea it would take 1 month to 2 months to unlock.
Next off a dream reminded me how rolling characters probly started in the first place I dunno about you but when I had prophecy only there was 4 slots I used 2-3 for pve and 1 for pvp, and at the time whether this idea was Anets or a good suggestion taken there was not character slot purchases for a long time.
As for the recognition problem I don't know what to say I hardly look at anyone be it rank 1 PvP, Protector of a Land, or Kings Hero for example. With much more then slight interest since its been a long time ago, but when I went to earn my Protector of Tyria, or Rank 3 emote I learned a rather disturbing truth to the community and since I only view my own accomplishments as my own recognition to think about it,not caring whether others look at it or not.
That fact was that players bribe others to do things for them, take advantage of skill unbalances and exploit them for gain in fame and what not the biggest uproar I had was when they camped a slow kill build outside a town and watched TV for lightbringer thus when the DOA came in because I did not exploit I was not invited to explore the realm when it was still tested on how to clear.

Not more impressive at all. I slaved away with my ranger to get 15k druids. Now its nothing special. This is "lets change Guild Wars to nightfall".
One bit that seems out of place is availability of insignias. As we now have to buy them for armour, instead of buying armour with the inherrent upgrade, their availability should not depend on what is salvaged and sold.Shouldn't be price fluctuations either. I new exactly what my Druids required and would cost.
The collectors armour change is appalling.
With a deft sweep of the sledgehammer, Anet has made more wonderful "upgrades"

It seems the 2 forums I have been reading stopped suddenly 1 of which I voiced my observations the other I merely watched which is 72 pages long.
I learned a bit and since I play both sides about equaly I agree with alot of points made, the ones I can agree with are UW/FIS tied to HA could definately use a severed connection the shrines wouldn't hurt either, but although the pvpers don't mind that happending unlike the skin purchases the system has been in place a very long time it would require alot of direct anet letters to make a dent of notice imo.
Any sort of testing change to the purchases is another I can agree with 10 times the price with unlockable, class only unlocks, or pve purchases for those of us who do both sides and effects but by far not all that are bothered by it.
I'm sorry if my last post was blunt but I was making a case to why recognition is by far not a good enough reason to denying changes to skin purchases.
What needs to happend to make this work is both sides have to come to something agreeable obviously anet plans to keep the concept there but making it actualy usefull would be nice a feature that a very small amount of pvp onlys (miniscule) agree with while the balance is heavily on the pve side of satisfaction in it. (while the majority of pvpers find no use for it)
Let us work together and maybe we can solve some pve problems affected by pvp.
